Yesterday was beautiful.
Kind of an odd title right?? Well allow me to tell you WHY yesterday was beautiful haha. So as some of you may or may not know, now my eating pattern is a little different from my normal plain dish meals. I have adapted more of an “If It Fits Your Macros” approach to allow a bit more happiness to my plates. So yesterday I tried my first IIFYM “refeed” day as described by Kane Sumbat. To refresh this idea, on this refeed day, all you really do is worry about calorie intake. You completely disregard macros and merely hit your calorie number for the day. This excited me 🙂
Truth be told, I didn’t really go to crazy with my meals. I woke up and had some Kashi cereal mixed with a protein shake and a french toast bagel with peanut butter. I haven’t eaten a french toast bagel in awhile so that was nice. After that I had some yogurt haha. Still pretty average. Then for lunch, I finally got the ball rolling…
CHIPOTLE BURRITO! So happy. I have not had one of these bad boys in quite awhile. 780 calories of pure bliss. Chicken, fajita veggies, tomato salsa, cheese and lettuce galore! Ohh this was so good 🙂 Guilt free which is the best part!
A few hours after the burrito I had to go food shopping for the week. It’s nice because now I’m allowing my grocery list to open up to much more to foods that I was not eating during the competition. In this trip I got a good amount of greek yogurt, Fiber One cereal, Drum Stick Chicken! Yes, that’s right, finally taken a break from the Chicken breasts. Tuna, oatmeal, veggies.
After I bagged the groceries and got to the car, I knew I had about 700 calories left for the day. Knowing there was some MUST HAVES in my grocery bags, I couldn’t resist the urge any longer and a 4PM snack went down right there in my muscle mobile!
I scarfed down both of these! Surprisingly these were VERY GOOD! Only 140 calories a piece to boot! I will certainly be purchasing these again.
After a fish and veggies dinner, I was shocked at what I discovered… I actually had calories to spare AND my macros were almost spot on. My protein was lower then it needs to be but I was only 9 grams over for carbs and 3 grams over for fats. Crazy! I’m telling you, I’m falling in love with this IIFYM after just a week (knock on wood). I got to eat foods that I was craving, add dessert, and still hit my numbers! I woke up this morning lean, satisfied, and fresh to tackle a new week!
Needless to say, yesterday was beautiful. Now it is time to make this a great week!
