So I am back! Saturday is in the books and one word can sum it up…..FUN!! Today was an awesome day from start to finish!
Per usual, this morning was my Saturday edition of “Spartan Unleashed.” We had a great class this AM and it really kick started my day in a positive and high gear. After coming home from the gym, fueling up properly and changing into my racing clothes, my in house MD’s…..(Parents) busted out the bandages. This was hilarious, picture this, I was laid out on a bench face down as my parents medicated/wrapped/and tapped my foot 1000 times over LOL. It was great and I really cannot thank my parents enough for their amazing efforts. After they finished wrapping my foot, I finally got to place my foot into a shoe for the first time in quite a while. To my surprise, my foot felt great! I was soo happy and pumped. Off to the course we go
Through registration and stretching blah blah blah, finally it was racing time. I hit the starting line and TOOK FLIGHT! This course was SUPER muddy. There was a stretch of probably 50 meters when you were (attempting) to run through knee high mud. The obstacles were fun, they had the usual barb wire crawl, some wall climbs and hay bails we had to jump over. I was estastic because my cardiovascular system felt awesome for someone who hadn’t ran since June 1st. I was actually worried that I would burn out and multiple points during the run.
The only complaint I have of the race, upon arriving at the last obstacle, there was roughly a 5 minute wait to just get on what was a rope wall that you had to laterally climb across. This made me a little uneasy because I was very dialed in at this point and waiting in a line didn’t seem to agree with me. Regardless, I waited, completed the event, then finished the race.
My final time was 29.59, mile time was 8.59, and I finished the race in 127th place out of over 6000 racers.
I was so happy for three reasons: One, I had an awesome time running in the race. Two, My FOOT didn’t hurt at all nor did it rip open more! And three, my actual finish time was solid. Next race, THE BIGGIE! Spartan Race August 10th!!!!
Enjoy your Sunday all! Set your goals high and WORK YOUR BUTT OFF to achieve! I’m proud to say I AM A WARRIOR now 🙂
