So I have another little diet discussion I would like to share with you. Recently I talked about my current diet and my thoughts about the whole food phenomenon. Well today, I’m going back to the drawing board to try out a new experiment. Allow me to explain.
Let it be known that I live day to day on a tight budget (atleast for now ;)) Being a recent college graduate and purchasing my own foods for the week, I buy exactly what I need and keep everything very plain. Reason being, plain is normally much less expensive then the covenant flavorful options. Now one of my major food sources throughout my days is oatmeal. Every day for the last 22 weeks I have indulged in atleast 2 cups of oatmeal. As of late, that amount has upped to 2 and 1/2 cups of oatmeal daily. Of course, with oatmeal being very inexpensive and a valuable carb source, I had no problem with this daily routine.
Recently I have been doing some research online about oatmeal. Apparently, alot of “bodies” have a tough time breaking down and digesting this food source in high quantities. Pondering this idea, I do get a sensation often of bloat and “air” in my stomach many a days. So today, as an experiment, I declared my oatmeal free meal plan! Basically, I will be cutting oatmeal till the end of the week to see how I feel/my body reacts. I am extremely curious to see what transpires.
Now I am not knocking oatmeal, I’m not claiming to be gluten intolerant, and I am probably not going to vanish oatmeal forever. I am merely running this experiment for the next few days. It was SOOO WEIRD though this morning and going to make my normal breakfast of egg whites and oatmeal. I seriously went to the cabinet to pull out my measuring cups and grabbed my bowl to make my oatmeal when I finally realized I wasn’t having oats today. Instead I had 1 cup of brown rice. Truth be told, I do feel really good right now. No bloat or air feeling. Obviously its been less then 24 hours since I cut oats, so this feeling is probably just in my head. But, we will see….
In other news, my gym’s “Transformation Challenge” for a cash prize ends in less then 2 weeks now! So excited. 22 long weeks of dieting down, only 2 weeks left YESSSSS!
