Hey everyone! Good afternoon and Happy Tuesday to you all. I hope your week is off to an awesome start!
Things have really been heating up over here for TeamCTT. (Team CTT Being the duo I now gave for Tom and myself when we tackle the weights LOL) (CTT=ChasingTheTop 😉 Since Tom has begun tracking his workouts he has received that “hunger” to continue increasing his weight. This certainly is a pleasure for me to see. Not only has it helped him, but it has extremely motivated me to keep upping my weights so I can stay ahead of him! haha. Yesterday we partook in “National Chest Monday.” Here’s how the routine looked…
5/3/1 Flat Bench (3’s)
2×6-8 Flat Bench
Incline Cable Presses 3×6-8
Incline DB Flye 3×6-8
Cable Crossover 3×6-8
1 Arm Tricep Pushdowns 3×6-8
Skull Crushers 3×6-8
Cable Overhead Ext 3×6-8
Note on this workout. Following our 5/3/1 benching numbers, I decided to push myself and go for my 1 Rep Max. I was able to push 95% of my 1MR (245) for 2. I then went for my old 1MR of 255 and got that! So I loaded the bar with 260 and went for it! Unrack, Touch The Chest, ReRack! BOOM 260! So excited.
Today Tom and I got to the gym excited to hit legs! Tom finally discovered that leg day stinks LOL. This workout certainly helped the cause.
Hit the gym repping my old Bowdoin College Hockey Clinic Training Shirt. I went to this overnight hockey camp when I was a sophomore in high school. Probably one of the best weeks of my life. Back then, the shirt was like a dress on me! I was so excited when I found it this morning while riffling through my draws.
Front Squats 3×6-8
Overhead Squats 3×6-8
I’m still struggling with the overhead squat but I will perfect it! Also, I wore better shoes to the gym today with a much flatter heel and it drastically helped my motion. It helped so much that I decided to go for another PR! 95% of my 1RM on the squat is 320 pounds. The most I had done of that was 2 with assistance on the second rep. Today I banged out 3 without help! I was so happy. Two PR’s in two days!
Tomorrow is Back and Biceps, let’s see if I can keep this train rolling!
I made up a quick little list to keep me focused in the busy weeks ahead. I am so pumped for this stretch I have coming up. I know it will be difficult, but I am ready 🙂
