Good Afternoon everyone!
I hope you are all having an excellent day! It’s Thursday, the weeks almost over! Let’s finish this puppy strong and on a positive note! CHARGE!!!
I apologize for not being able to make a post yesterday, I got caught up at work and packing meals. I have a little dialogue I would like to go over with you before I get into anything training or meal related.
This week I have felt pretty tired. I’m not sure whether it is the calorie deficit getting to me or just lack of sleep, but I have been tired and run down at random points of the day. I will admit that I haven’t been as amped up for my workouts as I normally am. I am really not sure what the cause of this is. To combat this, these past two days I have gone pretty easy at the gym. I haven’t really been focusing on crushing PR’s or lifting to the max of my abilities. In fact, I have just about put the training journal away and just lifted what my body wanted me to lift. This has certainly helped me. For example, yesterday I went to the gym to train back and biceps. I didn’t feel like going to heavy, so instead of trying to crush 120LB DB rows, I choose to rep 175 LB on a barbell with bentover rows. I really focused on the MIND-MUSCLE connection and drawing in a great deal of blood to my target muscle. I then proceeded to do curls for my biceps with pullups periodically. To make a long story short, I did just enough to feel like I really taxed the muscle without REALLY taxing the muscle. I approached shoulders and traps today with the same concept. Tackle the target muscles with challenging exercises, but don’t overdo it.
I feel like doing this really helped me enjoy my workouts a little more in this tired state I am in. It also gave my muscles a little bit of a break from constant week after week of pushing heavy weight. I am not entirely positive what I will do tomorrow with deadlift day, meaning whether I will lift more so light or go with my normal heavy routine. I will listen to my body and hear what it tells me 🙂
To continue on with this little stanza, I have big news! Next week I will be changing up my workout routine! As you may or may not know, I have been performing 5/3/1 for awhile now. Since May according to my calculations. I stacked this program with Jim Stoppani’s “Shortcut to Size” program. Now 5/3/1 helped me build a tremendous amount of strength. This program was the first time I ever trained like a strongman and it did my body wonders. But after so many months on this routine and 12 weeks on Shortcut to Size, it is time to spice everything up. After looking over a ton of routines, I am happy to say that starting this upcoming Monday I will be giving Jim Stoppani’s “1-2-3 Lean” program a go! If you guys would like to check out the program, click this link! http://issuu.com/bowlegmedia/docs/1-2-3_lean/1#share I am also going to be taking some time off from my normal UT Bootcamp classes just to give my body a bit of a rest from the constant two a day training schedule. I feel that this will greatly benefit me and I am excited to see how my body will react.
When’s the last time you changed up your workout routine? How often do you like to mix it up? Do you ever get tired with your workout program?
Today during my Shoulders workout, following some exercises, I decided to work on my handstand pushups just to break from the ordinary. Following 15 or so, I started to mix it up and have some fun.
This was fun. Massive rush of blood to my head though LOL!
CHASING THE TOP!
